Yarn: I used a thin 2 ply yarn for this shawl. You can make it in any yarn you like.

Needles: a long cirkular needle to go with the yarn.

This shawl is narrow and big, for a wider shawl knit as described on row 15.

Cast on 3 stitches.

Row 1 and row 2: knit 3 sts.

Row 3: Knit 1, make 1, knit 1, make 1, knit 1 = 5

Row 4 and all even rows: Knit

Row 5: K2, m1, k1, m1, k2 = 7

Row 7: K2, yo, k3, yo, k2 = 9

Row 9: K2, yo, k5, yo, k2

Row 11: K2, yo, k7, yo, k2

Row 13: K2, yo, k9, yo, k2

Row 15: K2, yo, k2, yo, k7, yo, k2, yo, k2. For a wider shawl start increasing in the middle of the shawl like this: K2, yo, k2, yo, k23, yo, k1, yo, k3, yo, k2, yo, k2. On every odd row make the yo on both sides of the middle sts or let the middle sts increase from 1 to 3, 5, 7 and so on.

Row 17: K2, yo, k3, yo, k9, yo, k2, yo, k2

Row 19: K2, yo, k4, yo, k11, yo, k2, yo, k2

Row 21: K2, yo, k5, yo, k13, yo, k2, yo, k2

Row 22: Bind of 6 sts in the beginning of the row and knit the row.

Row23: Bind of 6 sts, k1, yo, k2, yo knit and end the row with yo, k2, yo, k2.

Knit like row 7 to 9 and when the row begins and ends with k2, yo, k5, yo ......yo k5, yo, k2 bind of 6 sts in the beginning of the next two rows as in row 22 and 23.

When you think the shawl is big enough cast on 4 sts and knit 3, 2 together, turn and knit 4. Repeat until all the sts from the shawl are knitted together with the edging sts. Bind of, weave in ends.
